That manager should not be invited to manage teams that aren’t only white. Like full stop she does not have the skills or the empathy required to be around literally anyone else. Just put her right back in her little alabaster box and tape it all up. Bye. So gross. I’m really sorry she did that to all of you.
Oh Tre. I'm deeply saddened to hear where this is going. And if you three got HR involved... hoo boy, have I seen this one played out before. :/
What I learned that I should've already known is that HR isn't there to protect the employee; they are there to protect the Company (and yes, with a capital C). Any HR conversation that has to happen between us little guys and the Company's representative (especially the ones we feel we have to initiate) should be accompanied by opening a case with the ACLU and/or our own private attorney if possible.
Not trying to step on your story, but I've no doubt that you've learned the same way I did... They don't give a flying frog's ass about Us.
It is, and it just keeps getting worse. A brand new co-worker had an issue with her today when she was verbally abused, made to cry, and wasn't heard when telling our new supervisor what happened.
One of my co-workers advised her to go to HR and they both got on a call to let HR know what happened. Our new co-worker is White. We'll see how this pans out. Maybe they'll actually listen to her.
I kinda feel like they're setting themselves up for failure. We have all been keeping our site managers up-to-date with everything and this company is a sinking ship. I'm just ready to get outta here; just gotta be patient.
And you're absolutely right. But I know it's both. New sup is a horrible person and a racist.
This sounds like the kind of talk given to girls right out of high school and just entering the workforce. Maybe.
I told Deb about the lecture y'all got. She's pissed. "See! This is what happens when you have a male in charge who isn't used to female subordinates. He thinks women stick things in their bras and do all sorts of other things, based on nothing. You would NEVER hear that from a woman supervisor!" I then filled in that fact I'd inadvertently left out. "Wait. And you said she's white? And Tre and the other women are Black? Oh yeah, she's racist. Even *I* can tell that!"
That part! Exactly, Deb! I love her! Yup, yet HR believes our "perception" of things was off. I wish y'all could sit in on these meetings we have to have with her and HR. Every week we're re-triggered and have to break things down as if we're speaking to toddlers. And I'm growing extremely tired.
We're not going through all of that. We're waiting for jobs to be created and active with our respective sites. We are going to leave this company. 🙏🏽💙

Thanks, lady. Yeah, we shall see how it all pans out in the end. I appreciate you. You know that. ❤️🩵💜

You just stay tuned . . . Yup. We're learning. And trust and believe we're planning accordingly to make our exits. 🙏🏾🩵
Oof! Okay, so this is blatantly racist. I'm over here at the edge of my seat, Tre!

It's such a Catch 22, right? If they listen to her, then it probably is blatant racism, and if they don't then the new sup is just a terrible person?

I truly cannot wait to get out of there. 🙏🏾🩵
How awful is this utter non-sense. So, did you three in fact, retain a lawyer yet?
We're not going through all of that. We're waiting for jobs to be created and active with our respective sites. We are going to leave this company. 🙏🏽💙
I'm so sorry its come to that. I'd be mad as a hatter myself!
Ugghhh...what an awful experience!
This whole experience has taught me so much. I am happy to see you here, Mags. 🙏🏾🩵
