When You Silence the Voices of Your Employees - Expect Wrath

It should be no surprise when resignations are submitted. You knew what to do in the beginning, you neglected doing it.

Ignoring our voices sparked Round 1 of the resignations.

This past Tuesday, April 22, 2025, my co-worker (whom I have known the longest and am closest to) submitted her resignation. I reviewed it with her the night before—made some suggestions, and wished her well. The document was submitted to our direct Operations Manager and the Human Resources Manager. There was an underlying pressing fear upon her at the time of its submission. However, I encouraged her and made myself her cheerleader.

For all our harsh and torturous treatment recently, we still remember the beauty of what we do and how happy we were when we first began this role as Patient Navigators. When one’s voice is silenced, admonished, and pushed to the back of the file cabinet, never to be heard again, regardless of any new changes expected to occur, that lived experience can never be forgotten. It’s etched into one’s brain, and moving forward from it is almost impossible.

She has done her time. She has been patient, accommodating, exemplary in her testing actions, and has displayed an incredible work ethic. Her last day is tentatively May 09, 2025. The Center Manager for her site kept her word—it was her bond. She will remain at the site where she has been conducting tests, and her new role will be “Callback Scheduler.”

The Center Manager has been given information from me that I gathered upon my research while looking for incriminating evidence and details to bring up against our contracted company. I supplied my co-worker with the information. She relayed the details and all screen grabs, and the Regional Manager submitted a formal approval for the new position to be created. It was hers.

Without delay, she interviewed for it on Friday, April 18, 2025. Everything happened so quickly—I thought my head would spin. To say that I am proud of her would be a gross understatement. I am excited to live vicariously through her joyful, impending future endeavors.

One down, three to go.

Today, the Center Manager for my site shared with me the beginning stages of the position of “Patient Coordinator” that has been created for me. She, too, was given all the information shared with my co-worker’s Center Manager and all other details that directly affected me. All of these details were compiled and forwarded to the Regional Manager, who gave the green light (finally) and approved my future position.

Bear in mind—the site where I conduct tests is a site where I was previously employed for almost three years and is in direct connection with my most recent former job in Radiology Scheduling. So, I am simply just doing a 360 back to where it all started for me with the company I probably never should have left.

I saved the job listing and informed the Center Manager that I will await her final notification for the “Patient Coordinator” role. Once it has been received, I will apply for the position. A short interview will take place, I will receive a call from the Talent Acqusition Team to discuss my offer, and at the completion of those stages, I will submit my resignation.

It has been communicated to me that the final approvals should be done within a week. I am hopeful this will be the case. The sooner I can submit my resignation, the sooner I can be rid of this contracted company.

And I will never look back!

She hasn’t found the perfect fit yet—but she will.

Intelligent Black Woman #3 has had a total of three interviews. The last one was this past Monday, April 21, 2025. She is still waiting to hear from at least one place and has not made her decision yet. It is my belief she will not be waiting long.

Although she, too, has been offered a position at her current testing site, she wants to get as far away from a reminder of our contracted company that she can. And rightfully so! I do not blame her. She has not invested as much time, care, consideration, and years with her testing site as me and my other co-worker have. She can leave without any attachment and build something new for herself with no regrets.

The Great White Hope is being cautious but smart about her choices.

Her role is one that assists Intelligent Black Woman #3, so when that role is demolished, she will have to make a decision. We all know she does not want the role of Patient Navigator at their testing site, and she definitely wants to get away from our contracted company—she is breast milk baby new to our crew—so, what will she do?
